BY THE GLASS

WHITE

Schlatter Maltesergarten 'SW' / Weingut Martin Wassmer / 100% Weissburgunder / Baden, DE / €7

A German expression of the Pinot Blanc from a fabled winemaker with a very long name

Trocken Riesling / Kaufmann / 100% Riesling / Rheingau, DE / €6

A refreshing, dry Riesling with aromas of citrus and stone fruit from the famous Rheingau region

RED

Pinot Noir 2018 / Wijndomein Aldeneyck / 100% Pinot Noir / Maasvallei Limburg, BE / €7

Ever had a red wine from Belgium? The microclimate of this region allows for this beautiful example of Pinot Noir--a notoriously difficult grape to grow.

Gipskeuper Bonnigheim / Weingut Dautel / 100% Lemberger (Blaufränkisch) / Württemberg, DE / €7,5

Lemberger is not very well known, but it is the German version of the Austrian Blaufräkisch, and has an elegant balance of acidity and tannins; on the palate you'll get notes of ripe red fruit, with just a touch of smokiness and a hint of spice.

Assemblage 2015* / Bioweingut Sigrid Lehner / Assemblage QW Barrique Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, & Cabernet Sauvignon / Burgenland, AT / €7

A lovely mix of Austria's two most famous grapes with cabernet sauvignon to give it  a bit more body; this wine is aged in new oak barrels to add a touch of creaminess to what is an already intoxicating blend.

SPARKLING

Rosé Brut 2017 / Vaux / Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc & Chardonnay / Rheingau, DE / €7

A dry, refreshing rosé from a storied vineyard in Germany that specializes in sekt.

Riesling Extra Brut / Barth / 100% Riesling / Rheingau, DE / €7
Rheingau rieslings are famous throughout the world, but a sparkling one is quite a rarity and an absolute gem

ORANGE

Contrepoint* /Vin de Liège / Solaris & Souvignier Gris / Heure-Le-Romain, Belgium / €7.5

A refreshing and dry orange wine

*A quick note about natural wines: natural wines are not simply organic. There is no authority on which wines are natural and which aren’t but, generally, the term is applied to vineyards who reject today’s sophisticated winemaking technology, and seek to produce wine in the same manner they did a century ago.  This means the yeast they use tends to be wild, sulfites are usually not added, and the vineyard’s environmental impact is minimal.
